The village of Ruskila is located south of Tuusniemi along the Luostaritie, 20 kilometers from Tuusniemi towards Karvio. The village has a solid history as an agricultural village with a shop, sawmill, mill, school and a group of enterprising villagers. From Ruskila, the dirt road turns to Kojanlahti, which is 8 km from Ruskila on the Juojärvi river bank. Kojanlahti is a traditional agricultural and forestry area with pebbly ridges and sandy beaches. Juojärvi is a provincial lake, the clearest in Finland, and gives the whole area its own stamp. There is a lot of beach life and summer life in the village is very lively. The Kojanlahti region is the village with the most cottages in the northeast of Savo! The Village Association has converted Kojanlahti's old school, Villa Rysseli, into a center for summer activities. There is an art sales exhibition, summer coffee and mid-summer evening activities in a very tunnel-like setting. Since autumn 2015, the Kojanlahti school has been working all year round as a common village center for several villages, where the residents of the entire southern Tuusniemi practice in the circles of the citizen school, in the context of village activities, in physical activities and organize events and their own parties there.
