The cathedral of Vasto, named after St. Joseph, is the cathedral of the archdiocese of Chieti-Vasto. Of the ancient medieval church dedicated to Santa Margherita, only the facade with the 14th century portal and rose window remains. In the seventeenth century it was dedicated to St. Augustine and in 1808 to St. Joseph. It was elevated to a cathedral in 1853. In 1986 it became a cathedral.
