    The Château de Saint-Malo was built by the Dukes of Brittany between the 15th and 18th centuries to ensure their authority over the city of Saint-Malo. It is classified as a historic monument.

      Symbol of ducal and later royal power, the castle borders the Tour Quic-en-Groigne. Particularly interesting are the facades of the barracks (17th and 18th century), now the town hall, the cistern, the large keep and the castelet. The small fortress tower (1395) flanks the former ring wall. The large keep (1424) rises above the castle. The corner towers date from the 15th and 16th centuries, the chapel and basttion "La Galère" are from the 17th century.

        The pentagonal complex of the Château de Saint-Malo (also Château de la Duchesse Anne), next to the Porte Saint-Vincent, was built in the 15th century. Four towers tower above the ensemble: the Donjon (or Tour Générale), the Tour des Dames, the Tour des Moulins and the Tour Quic-en-Groigne.
        The castle's barracks now serve as the seat of the city administration, and the Grand Donjon houses the Musée d'Histoire de la Ville et du Pays Malouin.
