La Plataforma is the most popular and crowded place in the Sierra de Gredos to undertake mountain activities, hiking trails or mountain walks through the granite landscapes of the central massif. The main destination for most visitors is the Circo de Gredos to get to know the Laguna Grande, walk at the foot of the main peaks of the mountain range or reach the top of Almanzor (2,591 m), the highest peak in the Central System. The usual path enters the glacial cirque through the Loma de los Barrerones. On this occasion, the route follows the great ridge that forms the crown of the natural amphitheater of the Laguna Grande, enjoying extraordinary views of the geological heart of the mountain range. The exit from La Plataforma is along the Laguna Grande path, marked with PR-AV 17 milestones. The first ascent follows a cobblestone paving of balls and granite slabs reminiscent of medieval roads.
