Originally a Gothic church from the second half of the 14th century, it was founded as the new parish church of the Teutonic Order. The mortal remains of the lords of Hradec and Slavaty are kept in the crypt under the presbytery. Unfortunately, the original interior of the church has hardly been preserved, the current equipment dates from the 19th century. After a devastating fire in 1801 that destroyed almost the entire church (including the altar with paintings by Peter Brandl), the church was later re-vaulted. The 15th meridian east longitude runs through the churchyard.
