Arendal is located on the North Sea coast in southern Norway and is known for its vibrant city center and idyllic archipelago. The charming old town of Tyholmen and the lively inner harbor of Pollen make Arendal a diverse coastal town. Tyholmen is Arendal's oldest district, with its narrow streets and the city's oldest and best-preserved wooden houses. The old town quarter consists of an upper and a lower part. In lower Tyholmen stands Arendal's famous old town hall, Norway's tallest wooden house. The city museum, Kløckers Hus, is also located in lower Tyholmen.
