The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, ETH Zurich for short (French École polytechnique fédérale de Zurich, EPFZ, Italian Politecnico federale di Zurigo, PF di Zurigo, Rhaeto-Romanic Scola politecnica federala Turitg, SPFT), is a technical and scientific university in Zurich. It was founded in 1855 as the Federal Polytechnic (which is why it is popularly known as the Poly) based on the model of the École polytechnique in Paris. Their buildings are located in two locations: one in the center of Zurich at the foot of the Zürichberg, the other outside on the Hönggerberg. It is one of the most renowned universities in the world and regularly occupies top positions in university rankings.

There are 16 departments. Numerous advanced studies for a doctorate in technical, mathematical and scientific fields are possible. Around 23,000 students and doctoral students are currently enrolled. ETH Zurich employs over 11,000 people. Of the 565 professorships, including 114 assistant professorships, 103 (18.2%) are held by women. 22 Nobel Prize winners are associated with ETH. Joël Mesot has been ETH President since 2019, and Günther Dissertori is rector.
