At 6.24 m above sea level, Wöhrden has the highest church height in the marsh. The small town of Wöhrden is located between the district town of Heide and Büsum, near the North Sea.

Wöhrden is one of the oldest villages in Dithmarschen and was first mentioned in a document in 1281. The village is made up of nine districts. Thanks to its proximity to the North Sea, you can have a wonderful holiday here. In addition to the central location between Büsum, Heide, Wesselburen and Meldorf and the proximity to the motorway, the village is also a popular place to live because of its good infrastructure.

Sights in Wöhrden

For those of you who are interested in culture, Wöhrden offers some wonderful sights, such as the St. Nicolai Church in the center of Wöhrden.

There are also a few other sights in Wöhrden, including the oldest house in Dithmarschen - the materials house, the beautiful sandstone portal, as well as the Germania windmill and not to forget the historic town center.

The St. Nicolai Church is the successor to the Dithmarscher Victory Church from 1319. Around 1788, due to the ravages of time, a new building became necessary, which also gave rise to the new name for the church. A visit to this late Baroque church is definitely worth it, as it is one of the most beautiful Baroque churches in Schleswig-Holstein.

A cemetery wall led around the church, in which a fern, the protected mason's diamond, had settled.
