Marinella, also known as Marinella di Selinunte, is a fraction of 1 018 inhabitants of Castelvetrano, an Italian municipality of the free municipal consortium of Trapani in Sicily. The town, built at the end of the nineteenth century as a fishing port, extends over a long sandy coast. Today it is a seaside tourist center. Fishing is still practiced there with small fishing boats serving tourist activities. Every day, around 8 am in Piazza Empedocle, the local fish market takes place.

Selinunte was an ancient Sicilian city located on the south-western coast of Sicily, in today's province of Trapani; it is the largest archaeological park in Europe. The ruins of the city are located in the territory of the municipality of Castelvetrano, near the mouth of the Belice.

In the archaeological site, on the acropolis there are some temples along with other secondary constructions, while other temples are located on a nearby hill. The sculptures found in the Selinunte excavations are found mainly in the national archaeological museum of Palermo; the most famous work is an exception, the Efebo di Selinunte, which is now exhibited at the civic museum of Castelvetrano. the small port of Selinunte is characteristic.
