Between 1957 and 1960, the Gramm nursery from Weimar planted rhododendrons and other accompanying bog trees at this point. They were used to obtain cuttings. In the meantime, the plants have grown into stately specimens and, along with magnolias, lavender heather and free-range azaleas, delight visitors. The free-standing pines give the bog plants light shade and the moist red sandstone location offers favorable growth conditions.
