The Vrškamýk ruins from the 13th century are a reminder of the former royal castle associated with the powerful Přemyslid dynasty. Wenceslaus I and Przemysl Otakar II worked here, who established a district administration center with a royal official here. The last owner was even Emperor Charles IV himself.
The castle ruins have been protected as a Czech cultural monument since 1958.
Legend of the cruel knight Hunec
The legend tells of a cruel knight who tormented his subjects. Once when he was riding through the forest to Zduchovice, he was killed in that forest. For a long time there was a small chapel on that spot. To this day, his ghost appears at the castle, frightening the passers-by and those driving by.
