After the city expanded in the 19th century, it became necessary to build a water tower on the sports field. The bright red brick building, 28 m high, was put into operation in 1897 and was not shut down until 1967. Even today, it is clearly visible that the building was topped off with a pointed arch frieze and a crenellated crown, and that ornamental bands made of green glazed stones structure the building.
