    A beautiful chocolate-box village with half-timbered cottages, Aldbury is a gem. In the village centre, stocks and a well-preserved whipping-post stand next to a green pond, paying homage to days gone by. The village also has an alehouse dating back to 1752 - The Valiant Trooper. There are also various manor houses in the village.

      Very pretty village; a perennial destination for ramblers and a good place to have a drink. It also is a crossroad of different tours and close to Tring station for London cyclists.

        Nice photo opportunities and a good choice when route planning as it helps avoid some of the nearby main roads. There is a small shop here and the Musette Cafe is on the edge of the village.

          Be sure to also pop into Musette Cafe, situated just outside the village heading towards Tring. Cyclists cafe, with great coffee and cakes and fabulous views back to the Ashridge Estate in the Chlterns.

                  Great place to stop before tackling Tom's Hill on your bike. For an old fella like me, it's a tough one! Just as you think you're at the end of the climb, there's a nice little left hairpin with a steep gradient to it.....lovely! The village is lovely and has lots of movie history. Along with the modern ones previously mentioned, The Dirty Dozen was filmed here, Ashridge Management College and Little Gaddesden, back in 1967. You can easily make that a round trip from here and the roads are quiet.

                    Muzettes has changed hands to Church Cafe but still good for cyclists. The Greyhound and The Trooper are lovely pub for beer and food. Nice walk up to hill to the Brudgewater Monument in Ashridge woods.

                                  All the comments about the village are accurate. It really is a gem, hence lots of filming takes place there. I highly recommend Poppies Cafe in the 'Veteran's Hall" at the bottom of Tom's Hill. Whilst the hall is as described - basic, the cakes are top class. If you'd rather have a (breakfast) bacon butty/roll - its a generous helping and all at great value prices. 'Poppies" refers to the RBL poppy appeal. Be sure to buy a badge when you are there! The staff are extremely helpful.
