The Slovak Philharmonic is one of the most important cultural institutions in Bratislava and Slovakia. It started its activities in 1949 and since then has established itself as the main orchestral and concert ensemble that represents Slovak musical culture at the domestic and international level.

The Slovak Philharmonic was founded after the Second World War, at a time when Slovakia was trying to establish new cultural institutions and strengthen its cultural profile. Since its inception, the Philharmonic has become a key player on the Slovak music scene and an important ensemble that supports the development of symphonic music.

The Slovak Philharmonic is based in Reduta, which is its home building. The Reduta, also known as the Bratislava Philharmonic, is a historic building located on Karadžičová street in Bratislava. It was built in the years 1910-1914 and is one of the most beautiful examples of Neo-Renaissance architecture in the city. Reduta is known for its exceptional acoustics and elegant design, which is ideal for classical music concerts.
