In the middle of the 18th century the miners built in Längshyttan
an ironworks, a construction where the space between the
furnace chimney and the outer wall with stones and earth
was filled. The filler acted as an insulator so that the furnace did not
should burst at high temperature. The hut was from the
miners until 1810, when a consortium
i.e. the owners of Kloster, took over the business. the
Hut was shut down in 1861 and is now the am
best preserved wooden top ironworks in Dalarna.
