Welcome to the homepage of the Beekeeping Association 1872 Gladenbach and Surroundings e.V.
The beekeeping association 1872 Gladenbach and surroundings e.V. is one of the oldest associations in the city of Gladenbach.
The founding date can be verified on the basis of research carried out by the board of directors in 1997 in the Hessian main state archive.
Our non-profit association sees its main task in promoting beekeeping and the understanding of the importance of bees and their pollinating power.
The city of Gladenbach recognized this by awarding the city's environmental protection prize to the beekeeping association 1872 Gladenbach and the surrounding area in 1994.
The catchment area of the Beekeeping Association 1872 Gladenbach and the surrounding area essentially extends to the area of the city of Gladenbach with the districts.
New members could be won through the project Beekeepers, which was offered for the first time in 2008. Therefore, the association today also has members from neighboring communities.
Due to the great interest in beekeeping, the number of members in the association has increased in recent years. In 2007 there were still almost 50 members, but today the beekeeping association in Gladenbach and the surrounding area has 80 members who look after around 380 colonies.
More and more young, nature-loving people find the hobby of beekeeping appealing, which means that the average age has fallen in recent years, and the proportion of women in the club has also risen.
