The Rathaus is the town hall of Wels, a historic town in Upper Austria. It is one of the most remarkable buildings in the main square, with its impressive baroque facade, ornate window baskets and stone portal. The attic is decorated with stucco and stone vases and bears the coat of arms of the federal states. The town hall originally consisted of two town houses, which were connected between 1736 and 1739 according to the plans of Johann Michael Prunner. The facade is divided by pilasters and decorated with stucco. The window crowns and wrought iron window baskets underline the charm of the overall picture. The coat of arms of Wels is located above the stone portal, which is flanked by two columns with vases.
The town hall is open to the public at the following times:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m
Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m
