The characteristic Tea House in the Castle Park was set on fire by vandals on March 14, 2015. The whole of Elsloo and the surrounding area was upset. The house was rebuilt and is an exact copy of the original tea house, 't "Zomerhuuske" as it is called in Elsloo. From the tea house you have a beautiful view of the Juliana Canal and the Maas, which makes the climb more than worth it.

'Outrage is high' after fire at Elsloo teahouse

The teahouse in Elsloo Castle Park was severely damaged by fire during the night from Friday to Saturday. Car tires were likely set on fire inside the teahouse, causing significant damage.
"There is huge outrage among local residents," says Dion Groenestijn, who lives near the teahouse. "It's hitting people hard, especially since this isn't the first time."
Third fire
Groenestijn told L1 on Saturday that a fire also raged in the building in 2020. "Fortunately, it wasn't too bad then and the damage was easily repaired." It was much more serious in 2015: the teahouse burned down completely. "There were doubts about rebuilding it at the time. Fortunately, they ultimately did. Because the teahouse is truly a landmark for us."
