Below the old town hall is the lower market square, flanked by the traditional inns "Weinhaus Mehling" (extension Grüner Baum) and "Schönbrunnen". Until 1936 the "Fischbrunnen" stood on the square, which can now be found in the Färbergasse. Since the city's 600th anniversary, the fairy tale fountain by the Lohr artist Hermann Amrhein has been splashing on the lower market square.
