Arona is one of the most characteristic towns of Lake Maggiore. Located on the Piedmont side of the second largest lake in Italy, Arona boasts a wonderful lakefront where it is possible to admire the fortress of Angera. Furthermore, in Arona it is possible to appreciate the ancient fortress, destroyed by Napoleon, and the colossus of San Carlo.

One of the larger places on the southern Lago and therefore automatically quite touristy again. Very nice, partly typical center (town hall and church are worth seeing), but less special than in other towns along the river. The statue just above is the main goal for most.

Arona is the reference city of southern Lake Maggiore on the Piedmontese shore. A very beautiful cycle path was recently created along the lake where you can see some ancient Roman walls. There are a lot of amenities, it's worth a visit.
