The sundial was created by the Waldsieversdorf blacksmith Richard Jahn in over 1,000 hours of manual work and set up on May 1st, 1979.
It is designed as an equatorial sundial, i.e. the plane of the dial is parallel to the equatorial plane and the image of the shadow rod shows the true solar time on every sunny day throughout the year between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
In addition to a lot of other information, the sundial also conveys this meaningful saying:
“Ex his una tibi – one of these hours is yours”

Built almost 40 years ago by a metalworker, it has since been restored and repaired. She is beautiful to look at and goes very carefully!
