It was already 40 years ago that five firefighters lost their lives in the forest near Meinersen in the biggest fire in Germany!
Every year on August 10th, the fire brigades commemorate their deceased comrades. For this they lay a wreath at the memorial in the forest near Meinersen!
So the memorial is always very well maintained at the end of August ;-)
