From Groningen, you drive to Drenthe. You leave the city and the A7 motorway behind and enter a vast peat bog that stretches from Eelde to Leek. This peat bog was almost reclaimed and dried up, but has since been fully restored. Here, the wetlands store the excess water, so that elsewhere, feet can stay dry.
