Certainly not an insider tip, but towards the evening it gets emptier and the bay is really impressive. Parking 5 EUR, from here there are 2 paths to the bay, both of which meet somewhat in the middle.

From Afionas we walked down to a double bay called Porto Timoni, also referred to as Pirate Bay. The road is pretty rough, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone in beach slippers, there’s a strong chance of an ankle break in it! From the last house approx. The road is 800 meters down, but we have to descend 110 meters on sometimes moving, slippery rocks right next to the chasm! We have a run of approx. It took 20-25 minutes, up harder! On one occasion we “ran up” in 15 minutes, but in the end I was close to the state of clinical death, but so we still got breakfast on time. Yes, breakfast, because it’s worth going down to this beach or swimming for a good morning or a relaxing splash in the late afternoon, because during the day - thanks to a million promotional blog posts - the crowds are very large. For the second time, we hit a panoramic tour of the same place when we didn’t go down to the bay, we just looked at the lookouts at the top of the peninsula.

Great vantage point from which the photos that adorn numerous postcards and travel guides were also taken. It is definitely worth taking the few steps from the hiking trail to the photo point here. One overlooks the twin bay (Porto Timoni) and the Akra Arilla peninsula, where a third beach is located (top right in the picture).

Steep rocky descent to the bays. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes. A very nice idyllic place. If you don't feel like climbing, you can be chauffeured by boat.

Fabulous twin bay under the rocks of Afionas. On moderately difficult mountain roads we can reach the bays with crystal clear but significantly colder water from the other beaches. It is completely unsuitable for swimming with children, because the water is cool for paddling, the beach is crowded and rocky all day in high season. It is actually ideal for a pleasant swim in the early morning and late afternoon.

Beautiful double bay. Invites you to cool down. So you should have bathing suit and towel with you.

Attention, there is no shadow! The access road is quite rocky and sometimes steep. I have seen a few inexperienced sandals and flip-flops, which had great difficulties :-)
