The story of the Seven Sorrows of Mary!

14th Century:
The beginnings go back to this time and are related to the Marian devotion of the Cistercians of Marienstatt. Decisive for the choice of the place of the "Sorrowful Mother" was certainly the source at the foot of Heidenhäuschen, the healing powers are said to be. A shrine with statue of Our Lady and the spring at her feet shaped the appearance of the place of pilgrimage for centuries.
1885: On the initiative of the relatives of the priest Ferdinand Heep, three chapels were built. The great patrons of the Seven Sorrows were the Franciscans, who were pastors from 1919 to 1977 in Oberzeuzheim. The Kolping Family Oberzeuzheim cares about the preservation and care of the place of grace.
1969:
Under Father Cyrill-Eisermann, OFM, the sanctuary was redesigned. The stations were built of native basalt, the 7th station as an altar. The Diez artist Ernst Thrun created a cycle with the Seven Sorrows and the Seven Joys of Mary. The faithful of the neighboring communities and many visitors have participated with donations to the renovation.
1881:
The chapels were given a roof covering of natural slate and the source a new version.
1988:
Redesign of the facility around the springs.
