Eastgate is a permanently open gate through the city walls of Chester on the site of the original entrance to the Roman fortress of Deva Victrix in Chester, Cheshire, England. Eastgate clock is one of Chester’s most iconic landmarks and the second most photographed clock in the World after Big Ben. The clock was built in 1899 by the J.B Joyceto to celebrate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee of 1897. It is accessible from Eastgate Street by staircases either side of the road next to the arch.
