End of a long saga in Tilff: the new bridge to cross the Ourthe came into service this Thursday morning. 3 years of work and 12.5 million euros were necessary.
In 2001, the old bridge, in poor condition, was deemed dangerous. Since 2005, a temporary metal bridge placed above has maintained traffic, pending agreement on the final solution and its implementation.
The new bridge has an underpass for pedestrians and cyclists. It also spans the railway tracks, which will allow the removal of a level crossing.
"We're very happy. We've been waiting for this for a long time. It's still going to clear up traffic and it's going to be very beautiful when it's over.", explains this local resident.
These other Tilffois note: "It's really a great achievement. The level crossing was really a big problem. The street that goes down from the university and the CHU, it's a street that was congested at rush hour. C frankly the culmination of a very large project, which will really develop the center of Tilff. Somehow, I find it difficult to understand that it took so long.", "We will no longer have this iron bridge which cost the City dearly, that's good.", "I think that this project is now really unanimous. We didn't think we were going to end up with a beautiful bridge like that.", "It's magnificent. We are going to have a much more pleasant place, much more pedestrian. The bridge will change everything in terms of traffic, in terms of parking, in terms of tourism. It's going to be great, what. We were waiting for that impatiently. " .
