Right next to the Küchenholz is the Volkspark with the neighboring Kleinzschocher summer pool. In our opinion, the Volkspark is well suited for use for open-air parties, for which suitable areas are rare due to a lack of space and the associated noise emissions. To this end, the Green Party has commissioned the city council to develop a concept for spontaneous and open-air parties. Since Pentecost 2022, the Küchenholz has actually been one of 11 areas for spontaneous open-air events!
On the other hand, there is obviously a lack of awareness of nature in many places. On the meadow in the Kleinzschocher Volkspark, there are six campfire sites, some right on the edge of the forest, and there is also a mountain bike trail for which trees have even been marked and undergrowth has been cut down in the nature reserve. Dog owners let their dogs run free in the nature reserve and disturb wild animals. Apparently many people no longer recognize the importance of a landscape conservation area and are very careless with nature. We need to rethink this. Our group has therefore advocated the employment of so-called park rangers who, in addition to providing environmental education, can also carry out inspection tours in the protected forest areas.
