The Issel is a 2.3 km long, small stream that is fed by three (locals speak of four) springs. This is the official main source.
It looks more like a water hole, there is hardly any movement. Only a few meters further on, the water striders can no longer hold on

It could be made a bit more attractive. I'd be interested to know if the Issel spring had anything to do with the water supply to the two ring-wall structures on the Hausberg and Brülerberg.
The artificial containment is probably due to the fact that the spring supplied water to a nearby farm that existed until the end of the 18th century. Further south, the "Issel" stream was dammed. Today's "trout ponds" originally served to ensure the water supply to mills further down the valley. The Lochmühle cultural monument still stands today.
