Bridges are known to float in the water or pass over it or cross at least one abyss or ravine. However, anyone who has seen the Fischhof bridge in front of the Landesgartenschau 2013 has been wronged. This 92 meter long bridge, completed in 1750, has not crossed anything. Stand there, like one of those occasionally misplaced and forgotten highway bridges.

The stone arch bridge was built by Philipp Muttone, a master builder from Waldsassen with Italian ancestors. The viewer immediately recognizes that this bridge is modeled on the famous "Stone Bridge" of Regensburg. It led over the upper city pond to the Fischhof, an economic enterprise of the monastery Waldsassen, which lay as an island in the pond. The Fischhof served the abbots as a summer residence. The upper city pond was drained in 1807.

For over 200 years, the Fischhof Bridge was now on dry land. This changed only when the orientation of the State Garden Show in 2013, the Upper City Pond was re-created.
