According to legend, Miloš Obilić (killed on June 15, 1389) was a Serbian knight and nobleman, revered as a national hero by many Serbs. In the Battle of the Blackbird Field, in which the Serbs and their allies faced the then powerful Ottoman army, he is said to have killed the Ottoman Sultan Murad I. The memory of him is still deeply embedded in Serbian consciousness and history. Obilić is a symbol of bravery, anti-tyranny movement and heroism. The Vidovdan, which is celebrated especially in Serbia, serves as a reminder of the day of the battle. Historical sources do not contain any more precise, reliable information about the person of Miloš Obilić.
