In 1623, two years after Gothenburg was founded, a German community was formed there. It consisted of immigrant Protestants from the Netherlands, Germany and Scotland who helped build the city.
The congregation has about 900 members in 2017 and is part of the Church of Sweden. Pastors since 2013 are Maike and Christoph Gamer, both sent to Sweden by the Evangelical Church in Germany for a period of nine years.
Worship services are held in German on Sundays at 11:00 a.m. in the Christinenkirche (source: Wikipedia)
