The Darß Forest is a forested area on the western part of the Darß Peninsula. There are no settlements within the forest. Surrounding towns are Ahrenshoop and Born to the south, and Wieck and Prerow to the east. The Darß Forest covers 5,800 hectares and is part of the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park. The area around Darßer Ort and the northwestern part of the forest belong to Protection Zone 1, where no human use is permitted and natural development of the land is encouraged.

It doesn't matter whether you ride a bike, walk or have a horse-drawn carriage chauffeur you - there are many ways to experience this very well developed piece of forest.
At first I was irritated by the separation of the paths (bike path, hiking trail) - but especially at peak times there is a lot going on and this separation makes sense and is really a good idea.
There are numerous crossings with benches for shelter - very good when it rains.
You can rely on the signage.
