Bottle Beach, also known as Haad Khuat, is a secluded beach in the north of Koh Phangan, Thailand. With its fine white sand, turquoise waters, and shores fringed by dense jungle, it offers an idyllic setting for those seeking tranquility. Due to its secluded location, the beach is less frequented and thus retains its unspoiled charm.
Bottle Beach can be accessed in several ways. One popular method is a longtail boat ride from nearby Chaloklum, which costs approximately 150 baht per person and requires a minimum of four people. Alternatively, a challenging hike through the jungle leads to the beach; however, this path is steep and requires sturdy footwear and a good level of fitness. There is also a dirt road, but it is in poor condition and should only be used by four-wheel drive vehicles.
On the beach itself, there are several restaurants and bars serving both Thai and international dishes. Accommodations like the Bottle Beach 1 Resort offer simple beachfront bungalows, ideal for travelers who want to enjoy the natural beauty of the place for a longer period of time. Activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and beach volleyball are the main activities; snorkeling is possible, but the coral reefs are less developed than at other beaches on the island.
A particular highlight is the viewpoint above the beach, which can be reached after a 45-minute hike and offers impressive views of the bay and the surrounding sea. Sturdy shoes and plenty of water are recommended for this hike.
