Wissing, an old parish village, is one of the oldest towns in the community of Seubersdorf. Ulrich von Wissing was first mentioned in writing in 1130.

As servants on imperial estates, once subordinate to the influential Habsberg dynasty, the Wissinger appeared as vassals of the Eichstätt church in the course of the 13th century.

The castle wall still points to the manorial residences. Two other noble residences were Schellenstein Castle and Grünstein Castle. As early as 1526, the Schellenstein seat was said to be derelict. The history of Grünstein - owners of the Landsassengut Ittelhofen - was for a long time identical to Ittelhofen.

In the Middle Ages, Wissing was divided into Wizzingen (upper village) and Niederthal (lower village). Until 1803 the place had two churches, the parish church and the Johanneskirche. The latter was sold in 1807 and converted into an inn.
