10/31/2022 - Before the Wiener Neustädter Burg was erected, the cathedral provost was probably the princely residence of Leopold V. Conversions were carried out under bishops Melchior Khlesl at the end of the 16th century and Franz Anton Puchheim at the beginning of the 18th century.
The long, two- and three-storey wing in the west mainly dates from the 16th/17th centuries. Century, in the southern part over ashlar masonry from the 13th century. The simple facade dates from the 17th century. In the front towards the cathedral square there is a gabled chapel portal and above it a small balcony on the upper floor. The coat of arms reliefs of Bishops Khlesl and Puchheim are attached to the southern corners.

The Dompropstei Wiener Neustadt is the seat of the provost-pastor of the Liebfrauendom, the provost church of Wiener Neustadt. During the existence of the Wiener Neustadt diocese, it was the residence of the bishop from 1469 to 1785.

Beautiful entrance to the cathedral provost - inside the courtyard you will find old tombstones that used to be in the cathedral.
Today's provost was once - in the Middle Ages - a noble seat in the northwestern part of the city near the parish church. Since Wiener Neustadt was founded in 1192, this has been repeatedly expanded and rebuilt.
