So the Northern Canal fared like the Fossa Eugeniana. It remained unfinished - although it was realized in fragments (Louisenburg lock, earth walls, bridges, bridge keeper's houses, canals, Neuss port) and later the original canal plots were occupied with new routes for railways and roads: the course is still traceable in places today. where it was no longer realized. Street names such as "Am Nordkanal" also refer here and there to the historical project.
