In the Mecklenburg state calendar of 1926 under Mechow the village Mechow with 44 inhabitants and the Gutgemeinde Hof Mechow are listed with 143 inhabitants. Then came the war and the division of Germany: Mechow came in the context of a territorial exchange in 1945 together with Bäk, Römnitz and Ziethen of the Soviet occupation zone to the British and thus you stretch the historic arc a little further, from Mecklenburg-Strelitz to Schleswig -Holstein.
