The Wilde Aue raised bog in the municipality of Sonnen in Wegscheider Land is the last, untouched, original raised bog south of the Arber.

A high moor, which has the classic hourglass shape because it is vaulted on the inside, forms over thousands of years from the peat moss sphagnum. This moss continues to grow at the top and dies at the bottom and turns into peat. This creates the watch glass shape.
The closer you get to the middle, the wetter it gets, because most of the water is where the moor is highest.
