Jews from Baden and Saar-Palatinate were deported to the French internment camp Gurs in October 1940 as part of the Wagner-Bürckel campaign.
Four of the eighteen Jewish residents deported survived the Shoah. The rest succumbed to the inhumane camp conditions or were murdered in the extermination camps in the east.
In the 2009/10 school year, students from the technical school for social education at the Albert Schweitzer School in Sinsheim designed two memorial stones as part of the “Mahnmal” youth project.
One is here, the other is at the central memorial in Neckarzimmern.

Hoffenheim was home to a number of Jewish families up until the Nazi era in the 1930s. In 1940, 18 Jewish residents were deported to Gurs and almost all of them were murdered. The memorial stone, which consists of the old platform edges of the Hoffenheim train station, is a reminder of this. It was inaugurated in 2010.

In 2010, a memorial stone designed by students from the technical school for social education was unveiled. A copy of this stone found its place on the central memorial for the deported Jews from Baden in Neckarzimmern.
