St. Martina Parish Church, Bled
On the site of the church of St. The first chapel of St. Martin was built before the year 1000. The current neo-Gothic church was built in 1905 on the site of an earlier Gothic church from the 15th century. The plans of Prof. Friedrich von Schmidt, who is also the author of the Vienna City Hall, were adopted for the construction of the new church, but above all in terms of the internal appearance by the architect Josip pl. Vancaš. The artificial interior was also contributed to by the restorer Janez Vurnik from Radovljica, who made most of the sculptures in the church from the best Carrara marble.

The present Neo-Gothic Saint Martin church was erected in 1905 to replace the 15th-century Gothic church. The first Christian chapel was built in this place for over 1000 years. They were playing beautiful background music when we went in . A peaceful , beautiful church providing cool respite on a very hot day.

I'm not a big fan of churches but the paintings inside are stunning - almost Marvel (comics) in composition and clarity. There is also a nice cafe next to it and in summer you can get homemade ice-cream!
