This small choir tower church with a rectangular nave is one of the oldest surviving mission chapels in the Saale-Orla district, probably founded by Benedictine monks from Saalfeld at the beginning of the 13th century. In the 1960s, a fresco from the 14th/15th century was added to the interior. Century uncovered: it is Christ in Mandorla between Mary and John and Saint Andrew.
The church was originally surrounded by a rampart with a moat, which has since been partially restored as a ground monument.
