Fort de Côte-Lorette is a significant historical site and former military fortification located in the commune of Saint-Genis-Laval, southwest of Lyon, France. Standing at an elevation of approximately 290 meters, this monument was constructed between 1874 and 1894 as a crucial part of the Séré de Rivières system, forming the second defensive belt around Lyon. Historically this fort covered the communes of Chaponost and Brignais. Today it is a place of remembrance for the 120 people killed on the spot by the Germans before evacuating Lyon. The tour of the Fort is pleasant and offers on its southern slope a great view of Saint-Genis-Laval below.
