The Kieler Hörn represents the tip of the port of the state capital Kiel and at the same time the end of the Kieler Förde. It thus plays an important role in connecting the west and east banks of Kiel. It folds up several times a day to let ships pass. Pedestrians and cyclists then have to wait about 15 minutes.

The Hörnbrücke connects the city center around the main station with the district of Gaarden and the Norway quay on the east bank. A museum harbor with various traditional working ships is housed in the Germania harbor there. On the west bank is the station bridge, a landing stage for the regular ferries of the towing and ferry company Kiel mbH in regional traffic, for example to Laboe. Historically, the Germania shipyard, which primarily manufactured submarines, was located on the Hörn. The Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH with its characteristic cranes is still located north of the Hörn today.

From the Hörnbrücke you have a beautiful view of the skyline of Kiel and the port of Kiel. Open-air events take place here regularly, especially during Kiel Week. During the herring season you can also see anglers standing here.
