In this section you can see the construction site of the Feldolling flood retention basin. After completion, a total of 6.62 million cubic meters of water can be discharged and retained here, thus defusing the flood situation for the entire lower Mangfall.
Among other things, more than 200 nesting boxes for birds, bats and dormouse have been set up throughout the area, as well as around 30 alternative habitats for sand lizards made of wood and stone. The new habitats were well accepted by the animals. As a further ecological measure, more than five hectares of alluvial and deciduous forest were reforested. (?) The nutrient-poor grassland on the dikes forms a species-rich biotope for endangered animals and plants.
A large part of the area can still be used for agriculture.
