The Apricena stone is a limestone extracted in Puglia on the slopes of the Gargano, in the territory between Apricena, Lesina and Poggio Imperiale.
Usually the Apricena and Poggio Imperiale stone is layered in banks of variable thickness between 30 and 500 cm, with a southward inclination from 5 ° to 20 °. The shoals are usually separated from each other by a light layer of clay deposited in shallow sea beds.
