Hungarians settled in this area in the Middle Ages and, from the 13th century, Cumans (Kipchaks). In local history it is assumed that the place name originated from a Cuman clan name "Karabuk" at this time; later, when Serbs settled in the 16th century, it was reinterpreted and connected to a Serbian "karavuk" (black wolf).
The Martinskirche is in a bad state of decay.
