Hennie Kuiper Avenue is a legendary path in Geulhem (South Limburg, Netherlands), named after Dutch cyclist Hennie Kuiper. During the 1982 Amstel Gold Race, Kuiper suffered a flat tire and used this narrow footpath as a shortcut to catch up with the leading group. A clever move that catapulted him into cycling history!
Although the path was never officially recognized as a road, enthusiastic fans erected a sign bearing his name. Today, the path is blocked by gates, eliminating the possibility for racers to slip through.
