The history of this building is practically unknown. It seems like it was built at the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th (or at the end of the 18th - beginning of the 19th) century by a merchant who bought grain from all over the region. The mill is water, at the time of its operation on Protva there was a whole system of water wheels, levers and drives. The force was transferred to the main shaft, which led to the grinding shop on the first floor, then the force was distributed to several millstones through a system of additional shafts. The volume of production for those times, presumably, was colossal. The building is large, as it included warehouses for raw materials (grain), finished products (flour), a large family of a merchant and workers also lived in the building. Plus offices, bedrooms, living rooms, reception rooms, meeting rooms and so on. But these are all rumors. It is only known for certain that during the Great Patriotic War the building was used as a strategic and command post, it is also a hospital, it is also a warehouse. It was used by the Germans, and twice - the first during the offensive, the second during the retreat. In both cases, fierce battles were fought for this line with heavy losses on both sides. During the counter-offensive of the Soviet troops near Moscow, the soldiers of the 194th division had to storm the five-story building of the Yuryatinsky brick mill, which was turned by the invaders into a heavily fortified pillbox. It is not difficult to guess what ours eventually took.
