The Adenbachtor is one of the mighty city gates in Ahrweiler. It is on the northern edge of the city walls, opposite the road that leads into the vineyards. If you come from the Ahrweiler Markt train station, the Adenbachtor marks the entrance to the old town of Ahrweiler. It is the smallest of the four city gates and is popularly known as the Winzertor. Its origin dates back to the 13th century. Originally it was a square gate tower, open on the inside. In the arch reveal you can still see the slits of the former portcullis and above the gate the sill of a former shooting slit. The gate leaves of the wooden gate come from the 16th and 17th centuries.

During the great city fire of 1689, the upper part of the gate burned down completely and was only restored in the mid-1970s. In the meantime, the gate consisted only of the lower part of the gate. The patron saint of the Adenbachtor is Saint Mary. Hence the name "Marientor".
